The value of creating your vision board
Have the current times made you question your path in life? Have your current circumstances made you feel stuck or unable to reach your full potential? Do you need a tool more significant than "you" to get you out of bed in the morning and help you thrive through the crisis you are currently experiencing?
Over the last four years, the world we used to know has been upside down for many of us. In one way or another, this has impacted us. Some of us might have needed to make changes due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic or the aftermath. Drastic changes in our lives make us sit down and reflect.
Where are we heading? What's our direction when facing all the upcoming challenges? How can our contribution today help us shape a better world tomorrow? How can I define and make an impact on my future? How can I contribute to creating a compelling future for me and my family? How can I make a meaningful contribution to society?
The questions we ask ourselves are endless. They are unique to each individual and dependent on their mental state. They can be exclusively positive, neutral, or negative.
Why having a clear vision is essential.
Experiencing too much uncertainty can easily overwhelm us. It can blur our vision and narrow our sight. The current times have made everything uncertain due to wars and increased living costs. Thinking long-term has become more challenging, as we don't know how long the situation will affect us.
Having a clear vision is so underrated and essential. It is a daily reminder that gives us strength to push through when we experience challenges and difficulties. It gives us a positive perspective to keep going; ultimately, that's leverage when dealing with uncertainty.
Imagine your vision being your road map. The purpose of this road map is to guide you from where you are today to what you want to achieve in the future. Creating your vision is a chance to clarify your desire and who you see yourself becoming. Having a vision that we resonate emotionally with makes it easier to transform your dreams & goals into reality.
Our visions can function as an antidote to the situation we are currently experiencing. We can create a compelling image of how we want our future to look after this winter season is over. It's our opportunity to reframe a negative impact into a long-term positive effect.
How do you imagine your life after all of this turmoil is over? How do you imagine yourself living life physically, emotionally, and spiritually? Where will your mental health be?
You are the only person who can find fulfilling answers for yourself. It's what creating a life on your terms is all about.
A vision is about you.
A vision is something personal, with no right or wrong answers attached to it. The only person to define it is you. Create an image of a like that should make you proud when thinking of it.
No dreams or goals are too big or too small. What matters is that what we have defined as our goals and dreams are important to us. The only things that limit them are our creativity and the sacrifices we are willing to make to achieve them.
There is a saying: If you can see it in your head, you can hold it in your hand. The opportunities are endless. Most of the time, we're the ones to limit ourselves.
Why I created my first vision board.
As you will learn from reading my story, my life changed drastically after attending Tony Robbins' Unleash the Power Within in November 2018. Emotionally, I was at one of the lowest points I've ever been in life, living in a state dominated by anxiety and depression for a long time. Attending that seminar forced me to take a deep look in the mirror and question my path in life.
Spiritually and emotionally, I felt like a dead man walking on the inside. I realized I had to take action to create the life that I wanted to live. Committing to taking responsibility for my path changed my life for the better.
Time passed, and I decided to become more serious about the process I was working on. I had been thinking of getting a life coach for a while, and that's where my path led me to Chloe. One of the first assignments she gave me was writing my goals and creating a vision board.
I needed to become crystal clear about the life I wanted to create to reach my goals.
Finding a valuable resource along the way.
One day, while browsing potential books on Amazon, I was recommended a book based on my previous purchases. Linda Bytyqi's "Poverty to Prosperity" was one of the top recommendations that resonated most with me at the time. Linda's story about how she grew up in poverty and how her father sexually abused her while growing up touched me deeply.
The most inspiring part about Linda is that she didn't let the hardship bring her down and succeeded despite growing up in those difficult circumstances. I started following her on social media, as I'd like my feed to contain positivity and things I resonate with. Browsing through her social media accounts, I discovered she had a YouTube channel.
One video that caught my interest was "How to Create a detailed vision board." I liked Linda's video's amount of detail and clarity her vision board gave.
What makes Linda's vision board approach great
In the first part of "How to Create a detailed vision board," Linda walks us through the science of creating a vision board. I found this part informative and learned quite a few things that made me realize how important it was to create my vision board. Unfortunately, Linda's account got hacked a few years ago, so the video can't be found on YouTube anymore.
However, I found these parts especially essential:
Your vision board should contain details about what you want to achieve and have a clear timeframe.
A vision board is a daily reminder that helps us reprogram the subconscious part of the brain.
Our subconscious mind is way stronger than our conscious mind.
By representing our goals as images, we will stimulate our emotions.
Our emotions are the vibration energy that activates the law of attraction.
